Kate Hermans is General Manager, Orencia Worldwide Brand Team for Bristol-Myers Squibb, a leading diversified specialty bio-pharmaceutical company located in Princeton, NJ. Ms. Hermans is responsible for leading the cross-functional, global team accountable for developing and executing the worldwide strategy and branding for Orencia. This includes driving the strategic brand planning process, delivering a clearly differentiated campaign and message platform together with global brand hallmarks, clearly defined access strategies and a robust lifecycle plan.
Kate has more than 25 years of diverse international leadership experience, bringing a proven track record of driving exceptional financial outcomes for complex global businesses (both emerging and mature, up to USD $3 billion). A passionate business professional, her accomplishments span Africa, Asia, North America and Europe in a broad range of areas. Kate’s diverse biopharmaceutical in-line marketing and global strategy experience spans many therapeutic areas, including: immunology, vaccines, transplantation, women’s health, CNS, anti-infectives and gastrointestinal.
Kate began her career in public service and then worked in the semiconductor industry, before joining the pharmaceutical industry with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, now Pfizer Inc. While at Wyeth / Pfizer, Kate and her award-winning teams were recognized for developing innovative marketing solutions across HCP, Payer, and Consumer platforms to grow core-brand revenue for the company. Her tenure included an opportunity to live and work in Shanghai, China where Kate was the General Manager of the Vaccines Business for Pfizer China, responsible for launching and then leading the growth and development of Pfizer’s vaccines business. Under Kate’s leadership, Pfizer’s vaccine was recognized with multiple industry marketing awards, was ranked as one of the top launched MNC products in China, achieving significant revenue and IBT growth.
Kate received her Master’s degree in Finance and International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, as well as a BA in International Relations from Wheaton College, MA.
Ms. Hermans speaks English (native), French (conversant), and Chinese (beginner). She is married to Paul and they have two children. In her free time, Kate enjoys fitness training, reading, and traveling. Kate also enjoys her role as a Mentor through several different formal and informal venues and is active in several charities, including serving on the Board of the Women’s Resource Center, where she co-chairs the Marketing Committee.
