Women’s Resource Center Adds Several Board Members as Organization Looks to the Future

The Women’s Resource Center in Wayne has recently welcomed three new board members to guide the Center in expanding their services to clients in the coming years. In addition, they have hired a Resource Coordinator who will provide counseling and case management to clients. All of these individuals have critical roles to play in expanding WRC’s presence in the community.

Mandy Rosenblum, an attorney who specializes in employment law, is now the President of the Board. She has volunteered with WRC for several years, serving on several committees including Human Resources, Programs and Strategic Planning.  For many years she has worked to support women’s issues and to improve the position of women in the world. As Board President her main goal is to increase the number of clients served by the Center as well as the geographic reach of services provided.

Terri McDonald, a CPA who serves as Director of Domestic Tax for AMETEK, a manufacturer of electronic instruments in Berwyn, is the new Board Treasurer. Terri has been on the Board for over a year but is new to this leadership role. It will be her responsibility to review WRC’s finances regularly so that programs can be sustained and improved. She says, “It’s important that we lend a helping hand to women, not become another hurdle for them to overcome.”

Karen Basile, a Human Resources and Talent professional with Johnson Controls, is the new Board Secretary. She has served on several WRC committees and says that these experiences have intensified her “passion for helping girls and women achieve their goals”. She believes that it is important to give back to one’s community and her way of doing this is to provide leadership in developing the skills of the WRC Board, staff, volunteers, and clients. Karen also hopes to ensure that WRC services and programs reach clients of all backgrounds.

Kai Qualls, recently of I Lead Charter School in Reading, is the new Resource Coordinator for WRC. At I Lead, Kai supported students and families through complex situations. She sees that work as being very similar to what she does at WRC. She has a “heart for women’s issues” and this new position appeals to her on an intellectual and personal level. This role will be a combination of counseling and resource coordination for clients. She hopes to bring a new energy and a compassionate work ethic to her job as she promotes new ideas, policies and programs.

Cheryl Brubaker, WRC’s Executive Director says, “The women calling WRC face significant challenges for themselves and their children.  As a nonprofit organization, it is only through the support of our volunteers and donors that was are able to help the women we serve.  We are thrilled to have Kai Qualls bring her professional expertise to our staff and to welcome such experienced and dedicated community volunteers to lead our organization.”
