Vice President Marketing, Radius Health
Joining in March 2017, Kate Hermans leads marketing for Radius Health, a science-driven biopharmaceutical company based outside of Boston, MA. She is responsible for leading the team that shapes and executes the marketing strategy for Radius’ innovative therapeutics.
Kate has more than 25 years of international leadership experience, bringing a proven track record of driving exceptional financial outcomes for complex global businesses in both developed and emerging markets. Prior to joining Radius, Kate was the Head of Portfolio Strategy for Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS), leading the commercial team responsible for shaping the future specialty product portfolio for the company in the areas of Cardiovascular, Fibrosis, Immunoscience and Genetically Defined Diseases. She also held leadership roles for the company’s Orencia® and HCV Worldwide Brands, a combined business worth nearly $4B in total annual sales. Kate was responsible for the turnaround of Orencia®, after 10 years on the market and flat to declining revenues, which resulted in consecutive years of 20+% annual growth.
Earlier in her career, she was the Principal at Hermans International, managed the creation of Pfizer Inc.’s Global Commercial Operations Organization, led the launch of Prevnar® and Pfizer’s Vaccines Business Unit in China, was responsible for successfully leading the Wyeth China Pharmaceutical business including an 800-person sales force through the Pfizer acquisition, successfully accelerated the growth of Wyeth’s Rapamune® by re-engineering the global strategy, and led the acceleration of growth for Wyeth’s Protonix® resulting in extending peak-year sales and reaching the #2 market position in the U.S. as a fourth to market launch. Kate’s diverse biopharmaceutical experience in building, fixing, and growing businesses spans many therapeutic areas, including: immunology, vaccines, transplantation, women’s health, CNS, anti-infectives and gastrointestinal.
Kate was Wyeth’s HBA Rising Star in 2008 and BMS’ HBA Luminary in 2014. She has served as the Advisor to B-NOW and BOLD, two diversity business resource groups at BMS. Kate was the Founder of the LEAD program, a leadership development program developed exclusively with Columbia University aimed at accelerating diverse talent into senior levels at BMS. She serves on the Board of Directors and is the strategic advisor to the Fund Development Committee for the Women’s Resource Center. Kate received her Master’s degree in Finance and International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, as well as a BA in International Relations from Wheaton College, MA.
