Clinical Director Kai Qualls

Overview

WRC’s goal is to assist women and girls in successfully navigating difficult life transitions. Mental well-being is an integral part of accomplishing this goal. Unfortunately, many of the women we serve have experienced significant trauma which impacts their ability to set future goals and to leverage their internal and external resources to address the challenges they face.

Not only does research suggest that agency and resilience are important skills that positively affect women’s financial independence and stability, but our client’s experiences demonstrate the same.

WRC’s Counseling Services are designed to provide a brief therapy model with a client-centered approach, individualized to each client’s strengths and needs. Led by Licensed Professional Counselor and Clinical Director Kai Qualls, WRC’s counselors are trained and knowledgeable in many modalities of therapy, including evidence-based therapeutic interventions based largely in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Dialectical Behavioral Theory (DBT).

How much does it cost?

This service is free for very low income clients. Other fees are set based on income and number of dependents.

Who can use Counseling?

Any woman who needs help developing the internal resources needed to successfully navigate a transition in life. For example:

  • A middle aged woman who quit her job due to stress and medical issues, but now needs help planning her path.
  • A single mom facing eviction.
  • A married woman who feels stuck because her husband has been controlling the family finances.
  • A college student who wants her parents to see her as an adult, but still needs help navigating the complicated relationships and pressures of college life.

How do I sign up?

Call our Helpline at 701-314-HELP (4357) to describe your current needs and situation and if you have any questions. If Counseling is right for you, we will schedule an intake appointment.

Clients average 12 – 16 sessions.

Pay it Forward

WRC is pleased to be able to provide you with Resource Coordination services. Our fees are based on a sliding scale of $0 to $75 per session. These services are made possible through the generosity of donors, funders and clients like you.

We invite you to “pay it forward” by making a donation to help offset costs and allow future clients to benefit from these same services.

I can’t express how much Kai is helping me some days to just survive the moment. I don’t know what we would have done without Kai and the WRC.
