“WRC is a cause that aligns with my personal experiences.”
Jessica Guadalupe is a Senior Director, Proposals and Compliance at Avantor and also serves as Vice President, Secretary and Committee Liaison on WRCR’s board. Her WHY and WRC can be summed up as:
On volunteering as a Board Member for WRC: “WRC’s mission has always been a part of my own personal journey; it is a cause that aligns with my personal experiences. I experienced instability in my childhood for a variety of reasons and watched my mother struggle to provide for my sisters and me. Had she known about the WRC and the resources offered, I often wonder if she would have struggled less.”
On the future of WRC and her role: “Overall, I believe in the growth of WRC, and at the same time the personalized, smaller size of WRC appeals to me because I have the opportunity to help it grow. I am excited to see what the future looks like for WRC. From a personal standpoint, I am learning from WRC, and seeing our clients go through so many challenges allows me to promote ideas a a Board member.”
On the way WRC works in the community: “I am surprised when I see the number of things WRC does and all its moving parts happening to help women and girls overcome life transitions and thrive, with the number of full time and part time staff and supporting it with a diversity of experiences.
I am interested when I do not know something about our services, like how many clients one counselor can take on, and the need for more funding. I am curious about the diversity of our services and how much need there is out there. WRC supports the whole woman to be emotionally strong and confident, financially strong in managing money and breaking a cycle of poverty and abuse.”
On supporting WRC to make a difference for women and girls: “I am proud to expand and support women and girls programming, such as WRC’s Girls Lead program, to ensure the right mindset from a young age, so they don’t go through a similar situation. It’s important for women to have their own home, job, and safety, and to recognize potential abusive situations to avoid entering into them. You can break cycles of abuse through financial intelligence, emotional strength, and early leadership skill development, all things that the WRC offers.”
Thank you, Jessica, for supporting WRC to help women and girls overcome obstacles and thrive!
